The other day i picked up a 123L boat!

Its the biggest board in my quiver (next to my SUP Starboard elements 9,8" 148L) and the only windsurfboard i have that actually floats.

this board completes my raceboard collection. AB+46(63L), AB+54(78L), AB+59(95L).. im skipping the 100-110Liter range this time and straight onto 123L. Easy cruising, more float, quicker planing = more fun on the water in low wind conditions.

I'm planning to do a few long distances with this board.. probably a few sessions from 100-200 upto 300 kilometres coming spring/summer. Lakes are still frozen at the time. We'll have to wait it out i guess

I went with friend/Robin to Germany,Dusseldorf for our yearly shopping trip!
many stands/halls with al kinds of watersports

and definately crowded as always.

Best moment of the day.. eating deutche bratwursten!

We got home with a few goodies. Robin bought some surfboots, boardbag and a kiddyrig 2.0m2.
I got home with a Kialoa Methane Paddle for SUP-ing. YES!

Now my SUP gear is finally complete. But ofcourse its freezing and it doesnt seems to stop freezing anytime soon.

When i got home, i had a surprise for my sweet little 2year old daughter!!!

Her very first own kiddyrig.. the smallest one i could get. a 1.0m2 kidrig.

As i was able to go out for a bit of surfing, i went to the Zandmotor . Unfortunately by arrival it was low tide, shallow waves. At the point of the Zandmotor, at times there were beautifull long 'small' waves. The direction of the wind was a little bit sideoff. Perfect.
There were only kiters on the water in the beginning. Later on when i was busy out there.. more windsurfers came along.

As the windmeter gave right away gusts of 31knots.. with an average around 20knots i rigged my Sado 2g 5.0m2 and quatro quad LS95

The wind was on and off during the day, but overall a 5.0m2 size was the best choice. A few hours later it became hightide and more swell was coming in. I took my Gopro HD with me and shot some nice footage.

Whenever the winter starts to kick in. ill have still tuns of movies to edit. 8-) The media in our country were talking about a 'horror'winter coming up, but so far its the warmest winter since many years. 'Like' !!

a day @ IJmuiden, minimal windconditions. But there was swell coming in!!
Rigged the 5.4 and LS95 underneeth.. Had my bits of fun again.

I had some delay getting on the water. Got everything rigged to go. Wetsuit on, winterboots, cap.. ready to walk the walk with gear towards the beach. Oyea my harness, then i realised SHOOT i left my dakine T4 harness at home.. #$^%. Luckily the kiteshop on the boulevard was still open, and after a bullshitconversation able to rent a kiteharness. strange dude in the shop by the way. He asked me, what it was worth to me to rent a kiteharness. I said max 5euro for 2hours. He said, first go surf and then decide whats worth to you and pay then? No, i pay now 5 euro and stop the bullshit. He was like or buy some stuff in our kiteshop and you can borrow the kiteharness for free. i was not amused by that noncense. Just give me the damn kiteharness and ill go surfing for 2 hours and youll get it back. Dropped 5euros and my licence on the counter and left.

bottomturning.. the wind was sideon. managed to do some nice turns, but i had some better days for sure.

What can i say about todays session.. Man o man.. where was my 3.3m2 when i needed it!

As this could be an kinda extreme day i took for this occasion from work a day off. My intention first was to go towards a another spot The Zandmotor, but in the early morning the wind out there was minimal and quite offshore. At wijk the wind was at the time allready a 5-6 beaufort. These winterdays are very short. Around 4.30pm its allready dark. So last minute i decided to drive towards Wijk.

Once i arrived, the wind was quite minimal, slightly offshore and nice waves were coming in.

A few people were on the water aslike PWA sailor Lampie, Martin ten Hoeve. The guys out there werent planing on the way out, only waveriding the way back.

First i took some pictures before i rigged my sails.

at the time...minimal winds... but within a few hours rising upto 50knots!

Because the wind was going to increase in the afternoon i rigged up my P7 Sado 2G 5.0m2.

So i could start full power straight away and tied up my P7 SALT 4.0m2 to a pole at the beach for whenever the wind was going to kick in. The very first lap i did with 5.0m2.

i got almost blown off the water.. pfff. HAd to get my 4.0 allready..So changed the 5.0sado 2g for a 4.0m2 Salt.

Several laps out there and again i was to much overpowerd. In the later afternoon i got blown of the water.

As it was getting dark so quickly.. i kept sailing the 4.0m2 out of control.

Hardly able to do any decent jumps or waverides. Just been struggling to have some control on the water. In the topturn i wasnt able to hold onto my boom.

If the wind was allready strong when i started, i would of rigged my 4.0 AND 3.3m2. that would of give me so much more control. Next time more luck with rigging the right sails.

I had today 3 layers of wetsuits on my body, a Quiksilver neoprene longsleeve body2mm + over that my 3x2mm Sola shorty, and over that my O'neill Psychofreak 4.5x3.5mm. Combined with my thickest XCEL 5mm Infiniti Drylock Bamboo Boots, Billabong airlite 3mm cap + inside my wetsuit i stuck a drink caprison (so i dont have to walk back to the parking)and a pair Camarogloves (for when i loose my gear and have to swim back)

local windspeeds at the local speedspot, same time @speedspot strand Horst.. out there the wind was a lot less today.

here below, actual data from the spot IJmuiden, which is next to Wijk aan zee.. gaining windspeeds upto 28,9 m/s which is 56 knots.

Ive had it for today.. on my way back.. getting sandblasted!

In the dark on the parkinglot, my windmeter gave right away a gusts of 40 knots.

What a day.. could of worked out so much better with a 3.3m2. then i would of been able to do some serieous higher jumps and more controlled waverides. Now i was just surviving with a 4.0m2.
Another downside of today was at the parking, the front of my car was placed in the wind as i normally do. When i drove away from the parkinglot i stopped the car for a second to get a drink which was placed in the back of my car. Just that one second i forgot that there was 10 beaufort blowing outside my car and my door got rammed open. HARD. Some steel part broke in half + a dent in my door. Beside that I wasnt able to close my door anymore. 20 minutes later struggling in the dark to get my door closed again. Next week it has to go to the garage :-S.

But first things first.. bringing my kiddies to my sister in law. to babysit this afternoon 8-) thanks!

Looks like i finally got some PR's today :-)
Could of used my speedboard AB+46 speed instead of my AB+54slalom.
But then again.. Now i have something still to look forward too.
Im happy about todays speed on the AB+54 slalom.

The Point-7 AC1-2k11 6.3m2 was a bit big.. I dont have a smaller racesail. At times overpowerd but mostly i was able to hang on. A 5.5 and a speedboard would be a better setup i think for today.

Next time its windy like today, i'll definately try out my AB+46 speed.

My speedbuddy Aart V. also an AB+ sailor! 8-) he didnt had much luck today as his board blew away agains someones car.. Next time we can do a little battle together Aart!

Tommorow its even more windy. But ill take a break from the speedsailing. Going for a another stormchase wavesession tommorow, probaby sailing the 3.3m2 again @ the zandmotor

Tried out a new spot today.

De Zandmotor which is located below at Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan, Loosduinen.. www.dezandmotor.nl

Looks like an awesome spot to be sailing at. The direction of the wind was quite west. i heard it could be sideonshore at the Zandmotor. Finally arrived... late as usual. the winddirection was allready changed to WNW.. which is unfortunately onshore for The Zandmotor.

Petervg normally a Wijklocal was at the spot aswell.

In the early morning it was much more sideshore with decent waves I heard. But okay i did have my piece of fun.. Glad i took my big board with me.

I been sailing around with the quatro Quad LS95 and 5.4m2 Sado 2g.

In the beginning the wind was very minimal.. but kicked in a bit later on. Been sailing till darkness came in. Shot a bit of gopro movie and made some pictures out there.

I think this spot can REALLY ROCK with the right conditions.

As i been having quite a busy day yesterday, i went out for a short late afternoon speedsession here close by.
It was windy enough for my 6.3 AC1 2k11/ AB+54/ c3 slingshot 23cm.

the wind was changing to west. which makes the lake bits choppy for a good run. My arms and body were so tired from the wavesailing yesterday i didnt had the strenght anymore to go full on.

In the early morning i went first to Rotterdam to pick up my SOS rocketfish 82 which got converted from a single into a tri-fin! plus a cracked finbox was repaired and new grip was placed. The setup of the sidefins is were placed a bit 'toe', as you perhaps can see below. It should even perform better on the waveface.. But first some TOW before we can say thats true.

The conditions were quite side ONshore. I made the mistake to rig a to small sailsize 4.5m2. I didnt had the mood/motivation to walk the walk back trough the dunes to change it over for a 5.0m2. I been sailing low end/ underpowerd all afternoon. I couldnt test really the board as i would of wanted. I had allready enough trouble to keep my head above water.

Its been 10years that ive seen Oliver (on the right).. the last time was in south africa 2001 when we shared a villa over there during our stay. Nice to meet up again Oli! We have to do that again some day!

allthough i was underpowerd, i did had some fun moments .

Heard the other day my SOS RF82 is finished! whoop whoop!! Going to pick it up this week @ winfried's place and most probably going to use the SOS RF Tri-fin right away as it sure is going to be windy coming weekend!

POINT-7 SALT '12 is OUT! Rig session @home

The NEW SALT is out! Which got in the other day. :-)
As theres like NO wind allready for about a month, i had a little rigsession instead.

Used settings/equipment; recommended p7 c100 SRDM 370, p7 omega carbon boom set at 148cm, mastbase 0 cm, and tried a streamlined extension(set all below, which is +6cm) + the Four batten wavesail from Point-7, the SALT. Size 4.0m2. Weight of the sail: 3250gram!

Seems for me its a bit low end tuned.

For high end conditions i ll probably rig it like below.

A beautifull autumn sunday. Sunny but fresh with 10 degrees. I went with my son to the Vinkeveense plassen, for a Stand Up Paddle board session.

I was able to borrow a Starboard Race SUP 12,6 model 2011 and Martijn de Man himself was standing up on a Fanatic Race Fly 12,5 model 2011.

The water out there at Vinkeveen is so very clear that you can see the bottum almost everywhere upto 4-5 metres deep. There were not much fishes were i was at.. I think the cold weather had something to do with it. All Fish moved to deeper waters.. In the summer months it will be different im sure.
My son was able to go on my custom malibu waveboard.

I only have a paddle from a little inflatable toyboat, but my son managed it well.
We had lots of fun paddling around on the stand ups.
So much fun that it ll be an interesting sport to do for next season. More TOW Time on water.. is always nice!
So one of these months i have to get myself a SUP and 2 good paddles.

Martijn brought 2 oval carbon paddles. the brand/type i forgot, but they were felt nice.

Switching race SUPS. From a Starboard race to a fanatic Fly race.
they're both really nice tour sups, but have to say that the fanatic had a much better glide though. Probably because of the narrow canoe nose.

Its so much fun to be on the water together with my son.

A nice day to be out there again.

Luckily i had a babysit for today so i was able to have some extra time on the water.
it was windy enough for a 5.0m2, that with the LS95 underneeth.
My dad came around on the end of the day and shot a bit of film with the sony hx1 camera.
When my editing programm is working again as it should il try add some material later on in this season.

Today a wonderfull sunny autumnday, my dad came over to my place and decided to go all together for a bit of surfing at the lake. Its been many years ago that my dad been windsurfing again. My boy joaz went out also for a few laps. But the coolest thing for today was my little 2 yr old babydaughter doing her first windsurfsession! doing it just like daddy lol.
A few times she climbed on the board herself and was pumping the boom a bit.

So funny to see. Perhaps ill next year for a little kiddierig again a 1.0m2. With a Starboard Ido the mast stands straight up anyway so it makes it very easy for them little ones to step on, and sail away.

But first things first... a few lessons ;o)

ZANDVOORT 20-09-2011 5-Oceans-Witchcraft V3.0 92L vs P7 Sado 2G- Quatro Quad LS95

As its been quite a while, i decided to go to my former homespot: Zandvoort aan zee! I met up Jeroen G. at the skyline.

In the beginning we were alone out there in the sea sailing together, no other windsurfers around.
The conditions were quite minimal, but just enough for the sado 2g 5.4m2.

Jeroen had his 5-Oceans 5.3 and a Witchcraft V3.0 92L underneeth.

I had my Quad LS95 underneeth. Managed to do some tabletops, backloops(attempts) and a few frontside rides in sideon conditions.
The forecast doesnt look any good coming week. up to the next session.

17 september 2011 Wijk aan Zee

Headed to Wijk again.. as it should be bits windy!

When i was actually standing on top of the dunes.. i had some doubts what to rig.

The wind should be increasing but it didnt look much at the time. Rigged my Sado 5.4m2, hoping it would got stronger later on.. that with the quatro quad ls95 underneeth. Didnt brought any other boards with me so didnt leave me much else choice.

The wind was up and down all day. Nothing big, nothing special, but had my piece of fun.
Later on the afternoon i had the idea the wind was increasing bits, and took a break to get a drink at the parking.. took that time aswell to change sailsizes. From 5.4 to Sado 2g 5.0m2. When i was back the beach. The wind was gone again.. and now i was standing there with an even smaller sailsize. Waited a while and the windmachine luckily came back. Not much stronger but still able to plane. The first time sailing the new sado 2g 5.0m2.

I must say, the sails are such an improvement to the older models. Besides the different outline, looks, the sail has an enormous low end. And gives a stable feeling in hands. I am curious though when i get to surf in highwind conditions with these sails.

The eveningsessions are getting shorter each time...For the first time today i went on my AB+59 (95L), it took some time getting used to it, but quickly a max GPS 70.30kmh was shown on the gps. Very pleased with the board. I sold my Fanatic Falcon 102L. Instead i have now a smaller one 95L for 7.2m2 and still searching for a bigger sized slalom board with approximately 107 upto 112L for my 7.9m2 only. A bit more float, a bit more comfort, perhaps ill go for a freerace board next season. I'm happy to have my AB+ range complete(almost)! AB+46,AB+54,AB+59! only an AB+67 is missing here.
For an better average this evening, I needed a bit more time. But it got dark so soon. Ended up sailing alone in the dark, with my dark sails :-). Windspeeds were about 17-32 knots in a southwest direction.

Missed out a huge stormsession @ Wijk.. :-(

Windspeeds max 27,4m/s 53knots !!! Unbelievable.. cant believe i missed out (again) cause of Worrrrrrrrrrrrk.

Quad vs Trifin !? Sunday 11th September 2011 Wijk aan zee

I had 2 boards to try out this sunday! As i had been searching for a good replacement for my S.O.S.Rocket 92, which i recently sold.. i was able to borrow a witchcraft V3.0 92L trifin and a Quatro Quad LS95! exactly the type of boards i had in mind.

Can you see the differences in the bottumshape? A total other concept.

Sunday 11 september i headed to wijk aan zee.

The conditions were unfortunately quite minimal but sideshore.

Rigged the 5.4m2 sado 2g.

A sunny session it was. The board feels very loose on the water, but yet gives enough lift cause the 4 fins. It doesnt brake out in the bottomturns. The stance was a bit wide for me.. but ill change that anytime soon.

When i wanted to change the quad 95 for a trifin 92L the wind dropped. Later on the day i gave the witchcraft V3.0 back to its original happy owner Jeroen G. He wasnt selling his board anyway ;o)

I think i find a very good replacement with this Quatro Quad LS95.

Afterwork session @ Horst 6th of september 2011

Late afterwork session.. as always very late on the water.. got a few runs before dark.

Today i brought my AB+46speed with me, that with the P7 6.3m2 Ac1-2k ii.

gps-speed rankings from today.. Its not a complete version though, as im typing thise many other people are still uploading their data..

had to get used to my AB+46 speed board a little, as it was the first time sailing this AB+ board and slingshot 21cm.

Didnt get the speeds i wanted, although it was fun trying out new shizzle.

I should of put my AB+54 board underneeth for better speeds and more planing time in these short moments before dark. Next time a bit more sun pretty please and some more hours quality on the water. ;-)

At wavespot Wijk aan zee, there was a reall stormchase going on, unfortunately had to miss out on that one.. could of been fun, saling the 3.3m2 again!

But im going to miss out on that. :-( As i have to work all day, and only have a bit time left to play out here on the lake before dark. It's going to be a short afterwork speedsession @Strand Horst. windspeeds there upto 40knots..Should be enough for my smallest racesail 6.3m2...(need to find myself a 5.5 for these conditions i think) and windspeeds should be increasing during daytime. im glad because im there after 6:30 pm.Normally 90% of the days im speeding afterwork. im to late and missed out on the good winds lol ;o)

Hopefully i can have my 5x10 sec runs before it gets dark. I'm Excited to use one of my new speed' toys. Tommorow it should be the day that im going to try out for a first; the AB+46 SPEED, aswell a first with a 21cm C3 slingshot underneeth.

A sunny day at the beaches of Wijk aan zee. As i got some new shizzle in to try out, i couldnt wait hitting the shorebreaks again.

The winddirection was unfortunately onshore, and a bit light.

10-13ms / 4 upto at times 5 beaufort.

The watertemperature was about 18 degrees, the weathertemperature outside 20degrees with a bit of sun for a change.

At the beach, GoPRO moments...

As i sold the other day my biggest waveboard, SOS rocket92, and not having my S.O.S. Rocketfish 82L back yet from repair, it didnt leave me much choice to go onto my oldest customWave Warrior Malibu board.

A 25cm wave Maui Ultrafin underneeth, my favourite fin for this board.

Today I rigged up the biggest wavesail from Point-7, Sado 2G 6.4m2 , combined with the new Point-7 Honeycomb carbon Omega boom. both using them for the first time!
Recommended boomlength on the 6.4m2 was 184cm. I tried the first few hours boomlenght 182cm. Later on the day i changed it to the recommended setting 184cm. Both boomlenghts were ok, although -2cm gave even more power, but gave in by handling. The Sado 2G needs a lot of 'pull' at the uphaul. Compared to my former Sado sails so much pull wasnt needed. Those sails had much more downhaul too then the new ones. There was almost no loose leech in the sail. Although on the water they 'breath' heavily . as i could see on the gopro movies i took.. The 'belly'of the sail was enourmous, explains the amount of power. I'm curious and do want the try these sails asap in full powerd up conditions. See how that will work out. I do want to try them aswell, 'with' loose leech, and a maximum pull on the downhaul on a stormy day.

On the streamlined extension i did a +2cm above recommended.

With the recommended boomlength as you can see there is no loose leech combined with a enourmous belly.

So no loose leech... that even with +2cm above recommended!!

On the water the sail had enough pull dragging me to the shorebreaks and currents. Im glad, because today a lot of people were swimming and getting washed cause by lacking power.

Here below my surfbuddy Robin B. was behind me..cruising together. He was with his JP quad 68L and 5.4m2 wavesail. The leightweight sailor he is :-P.

Im glad my custom Malibu still does its thing for the 14th season in a row! and still going strong. It does misses out on the tight short turns, but in nice longer waves, it gives a lot of fun waveriding down the line, next to that its always easy comfortable sailing this malibu. If i could turn back time.. i would of give the board some extra +15L volume.. because it barely has 90L.. and that even with its size 264x60cm.

The new Sado 2g 6.4m2 felt as a smaller sail, like i was riding a 5.4m2 only with much more power in hands. Some random people who asked about the sailsize, they thought i had put on a 5.4m2... and got surprised when they heard it was 6.4m2. The sails 'belly', felt strange to me in the beginning... like it was sailing a ac1 2k11 :-) so much power, but yet totally different. The conditions were to minimal and onshore.. before give a good opinion about these sails. i need to test these in other conditions aswell. But in onshore messy conditions they were perfect.

The carbon omega boom was set on a medium/normal suspension. Not sure yet if i like it or not. Cant say it annoyed me, cant say it was a better boom then my streamlined (which is lighter, narrow diameter, stiffer connexion to the mast). I guess i have to use it some more often in different suspension settings. I think the most benefits will be on those stormchase days with higher jumps and hard landings. Time will tell. For now, CHEERS.

New Point-7 Wavesails Sado 2012 and Omega boom arrived!!

It took a while but finally my newest Point-7 wavesails Sado 2g 2012 arrived!!! 4.5/5.0/5.4/6.4m2.
I had a little rigsession at home, 5.0m2 Sado 2g.

i tried it at first with the recommended settings. +12cm on the streamlined (+recommended P7 srdm 400 c100)

As you can see here with these settings there is very less loose leech and a lot of profile/belly. Powersails indeed.

I tried aswell settings +14cm on the srdm 430.

Unpacked a new boom aswell. I've orderd the Point-7 Honeycomb Omega carbon, but inside the package there was a aluminium/Ergal omega version that was accidently send out. Bummer though. Hopefully soon they'll send the correct boom that ive orderd. For an aluminium boom, this one looks very neat. Made some pictures from it and packed it again for the pickup delivery.

Last sunday i drove to strand horst.. it was so crowded out there and when i got there the wind was gone ofcourse,

and went home again. Picture above is from last sunday 7th of august..

So today id gave it a another try. Afterwork i went for a short session to horst.
Ofcourse when i arrived the wind was just about gone...kites falling down, everybody next to its board.. pff waited half an hour and the wind came back a little.. during daytimes it was about 15-27knots.

During the evening 13-22knots. I rigged my biggest sail that i had with me.

P7 7.2 ac-1 2kii. Rigged that one with a c3 venom 34cm underneeth my FF 102.
Had some laps with good power in my sails..

but most of all i was lacking power. After about 23kilometers the wind was gone.

So rounded it up for today.
Perhaps later on this week i get to plane a bit.

Hopefully my new wavesails will be arrivingg anytime this week, together with my reborn SOS RF82!!!

sideoff to side shore mellow conditions @ Wijk aan zee 17th july 2011

What a difference compared to the other day...Sunny weather, sideoff to sideshore wind about 5-6 beaufort and waves from 1 to 2.5meter.
I had one minor problem.. I sold my 3 biggest sails the other week!!
My friend Robin let me borrow his set wavesails...

Neilpryde Alpha 5.4 (and 4,7 and 6,5) so i could go out and have a blast anyway. Many thanks Robin!
I didnt had a board with me aswell... Borrowed Martijn de Man's Fanatic Twinzer 93L '2010. Also Big thanks to Martijn!

Didnt do any crazy jumps today, didnt wanna demolish someone elses gear ;o)
focussed a bit on the waveriding. Which was fun. 3 to 5 turns on a good wave was possible today. This twinzer makes tight turns. Enough volume to keep my head above water. It felt a bit slippery, but thats something i have to get used to. Down the line was really nice in the bottom turns, and on top of the wave it slides nicely away. Sailing only upwind was bits more work then the usual.

The wind was up and down all day.. 5.4 max loose leech.. to 5.4 low end (no loose leech at all and smaller boomlenghts) changed it about 4 times.
Around 8:00 pm it was enough.. Time to go home and up to the next session! Which will be probably in a few weeks from now, as im going on a holiday with my family. By the time i am back on the water its probably with my SOS Rocketfish 82L singlefin customized into TRIfin. My new sails and boom will be here at the end of july. Point-7 SAdo 2G sails with the Honeycomb Omega carbon waveboom!! Cant wait to try out the new gear.

Nucleair winds @IJmuiden /GoPro wavesession- 9-10 Beaufort Northwest 14th july 2011

Decided around 5:00pm at work.. that i shouldnt miss out on this day. I got home from work about 6:00pm after a little arguement with my wife because i had some other appointment later this evening which brutely had to be canceled.. I packed my stuff quickly and joined the trafficjams all the way to the beach of IJmuiden. Around 7.40pm i was finally on the water. Very late, cloudy and raining hard non stop..but man oh Man NUCLEAIR winds!!!

Hanging here onto my boom in the sky and a decent set breaking underneeth...

Windspeeds from 18m/s to 25m/s which is about max 10 beaufort / 49knots.

To bad that the winddirection went during midday from north (side)to Northwest direction (sideon) when i got on the water. But the wind was still there and picking up.

The watertemperature is very nice this time of year. My fullsuit Oneill psycho2 3x2mm is the right choice for these days. Outside temperature colder then the watertemp.

This is the reason why i decided to buy a 3.3m2. I dont wanna miss out on these real stormchase days, and then had to miss out simply because a 4.0 or 3.7m2 would of been too much.

My buddy Robin was there, rigged his 3.3m2 aswell in combo with his new jp quad 68L. but he got blown away on the water even with a 3.3m2.

I saw Torben there very shortly aswell with his 3.8m2, but he got blown away too.
In the gusts it was really hard to hold on. In the beginning i rigged my 3.3m2 low end, but noticed after a few laps in these kinda conditions i had to give the 3.3m2 a little more downhaul. :-) I didnt had much control out there.. even a simple jibe was hard to do. But managed to do a few nice jumps and a handfull frontside and backsidewaverides. After a while the wind became less. When i was quite a far out, i needed a more volume underneeth. 68L/3.3m2 and 90+ kg can be a difficult settup at times. The waves were huge at the back. After 9pm a 4.0m2 would of been a better size. OH well it was getting dark anyways. Not having any intention to swap sailsizes. Im glad i didnt miss out this eveningsession.

Time to go home... a short very powerfull session... Next time a bit more sun pretty please!!!

While i was derigging my gear all of a sudden a nosy fox came to my car and guess it was curious to see what i was doing at the parking ;o)

As it was dark allready unfortunately i couldnt make a good (Gopro)shot.

Got home around midnight.. went to bed about 1.30am.. and a a few hours later got up for a 9h long day @ the job.. that being wasted.

We have a short holiday coming up tommorow, that with family (my wife, kids, my moms, stephdad, sister and brother in law,) in Zeeland. That ll be fun. My Stephdad and sister wanting to learn windsurfing next week. How cool is that.
Today was good for some rooky surfing. I went with my son to Strand horst.

I rigged up my 7.9m2/FF102/Sting38cm...

but the conditions were to light for me to do any decent planing.

Raining raining... on my way to wijk aan zee.

it cleared up while rigging. 8-) The wind was picking up too.

I thought i had the 5.0/5.4/6.6 inside the car, but it seemed i forgot my my 5.0m2!!! Ofcourse the wind was quite heavy and good for 4.7/5.0m2. Sooo i put on a 5.4, trimmed it to its max. with the SOS rocket92 and a to big of a fin 27cm.. (i sold my smaller ones, dont have new one yet.)

I was on the water around 5pm till 9.30pm. Wearing my new O'neill psycho2 Z/Z 3x2mm wetsuit, this was just the suit i needed. Not to cold, and not TOO warm.
I had some nice waverides out there and some jumps and tabletops. Nothing fancy today, i had my hands full on the 5.4m2. SImply said it was to big.
THe waves were at time logohigh and sideon shore conditions.
Windspeeds 14 upto 19ms and about 225degrees SW direction.

Next time i hope there will be good side/sideoff condtions with a bunch of swell coming in.

As i didnt had to much time today, and still sore from all the wavesailing from yesterday, i went for a bit of cruising at Horst.

Rigged up the 6.3 ac1 2k11 with the FF102. I tried out a widebased 25cm fin underneeth. the biggest C3 Slingshot 25cm. On a wide course it didnt gave any problems with a 63cm wide board. going upwind i had to give in to others. Unfortunately i didnt had any speeds yet on the GPS, as after a few laps my battery went dead. Forgot to charge the dang thing. The most wind came when my gps was off.

Windspeeds 14-27 knots. West direction.

A short session. I had to be home on time. A great moment of the day was besides getting spoiled by my kids and wife because its fathersday today, was seeing an old friend HAnsie B. again, who i had not seen the last 10 years. He was still surfing on the same gear as 10 years ago and still is just as good as back then lol.

As i havent been wavesailing for a little while, my hopes were on for today.

The forecasts was great. SideOn condition and about 7 beaufort all day long.

All morning it was raining, but when i arrived the sun started shining :-) that till the end of the day.

My setup for today 4.5sado and sos68.

Martijns setup back there, with the pink elephant in his sail.

As it was 14/15ms up to 18-20ms.. i rigged on a 4.0m2 first.. (too small)
I did had some doubts in the beginning about sailsize. Only in the gusts i was planing, but most of the time i was sailing underpowerd. With the low volume <68l i definately made a wrong choice on sailsize. I tried De Mans equipment aswell. He was on a sado 4.2 and 75L Fanatic customboard with a too big of a fin. He should put an MU fin Xwave underneeth..The 75L custom singlefin from Martijn went quite nice upwind, but it wasnt my fave in the waves. Im too spoiled having my SOS boards. It didnt fell loose as any of my boards. Martijn took my SOS68 for a spin, and got positively surprised about it. I didnt thought he could go out on such a small board.. As he is normally always on bigger boards then i am.The second part of the afternoon from where i changed sails from 4.0 to 4.5m2. i took my Gopro hd cam out to the water. I've made some shots

And filmed some aswell.. But me and film....I cant find the time to edit some.
So for now a bunch of shots, that from todays session.

Jibing on a wave

I also had a little bad luck out there, while rigging the 4.5 i didnt check my masttop myself. Martijn was standing at the top and said it was locked into the mast when i rigged it. Are you sure? Yes he was sure ;o).. My first lap into the sea, between the 2nd and 3th bank.. WHAMMM after a little jump my mast when trough the top of the sail... No damage at all. It just wasnt locked. I had to swim back for about 20 minutes.

Swimming back to shore costed me a lot of energy. Later on i was getting cramp in my arms all the time. So i took it easy afterwards.

I saw the photographer JePeVepe also standing out there all day long with his enormous telelens/camera. Maybe within these days i'll get to see some footage from his lens and point of vieuw.

Suits & Fashion

Last month we had several wetsuits coming in for the whole family.
My boy outgrew his old wetsuit which i bought several years ago at Das Boot/dusseldorf. Time for something better, warmer and bigger sized!
Neilpryde Next Generation 3000 4x3mm Size 10, as he's 8 years old, he can use it hopefully the coming 2-3 years. Its now a little bit to big. But those buggers keep on growing :)

Yes, its stretchy enough. Next time it'll be Strand Horst.

Last Month my wife got her very first own Roxy syncro 3x2mm wetsuit.

She hasnt been complaining anymore about the coldwater 8-)

and got myself a nice goodie aswell an O'neill Psychofreak 4.5x3.5 for the colder days.

A superwarm stretchy wetsuit...almost too warm.

For most days in the summer is a shorty or shortarm a bit to chilly but a O'neill psychofreak is simply too hot (i noticed). I finally have now a summer fullsuit aswell.
O'neill PSycho2 ZenZip 3x2mm for the summer/autumn days.

My babygirl doesnt need a new one yet. the NP she has,still fits fine.

A wonderfull almost summer day, well its not summer yet. but still! 8-)
temperatures were great. and there was a bit of wind aswell.
We took out the Fanatic Viper and 2.5m2 and 6.6m2 Sado to play with.

My wife was surfing aswell, and had gps-speeds around 10.5kmh max ;o) #soProud.

Ive been surfing later on with my son, that with the 6.6m2. Both on the Viper 190L planing together for a moment. That was cool. Had a speed around 35kmh on that familyboard, no harness/trapeze on.

The Starboard IDO did his work today.

Coming days there's not much wind. We'll just have to wait and see.

SOS Rocket68 @ Wijk 28-05-11

Last saterday i went off to Wijk aan Zee.

Wijk, Zoomed out..

..and zoomed in.

I left my SOS Rocketfish 82 at home, because last week i cracked my finbox.

It needs to be repaired. :-( But also the setup will be changed from single to a TriFin setup. Im excited to see how that will work out in the end.
But for now im not having a 80liter board to sail on.

I had no other choice to go on my smaller board, SOS Rocketfish68 or my bigger board SOS Rocket92L.. BUt i sold all my smaller powerbox finsizes.. and sailing fullpower with a 27cm fin is not my kinda thing. The Rocketfish 68 it will be. The conditions looked a bit the same as last weekend, only today was a colder, grey and rainy day.

Rigged up a 5.0m2 instead of a 4.5m2. Because of the lower volume.

Most people were out on 4.7m2. A 5.0m2 was overall a goodsize today. sometime a little bit full almost overpowerd.

In the beginning around 3:30 p.m. it was blowing hard enough and right away i did my fastest runs. shortly after the wind was more off then on.

Walked a lot .. When it began to rain, I used the harder gusts to go upwind.. instead of further downwind.. because i already was far enough.

Too bad, my fifth run, which brings my average down. For the first time i been sailing with a slingshot Fin. I had 2 spinouts today, crashed with 65kmh. The second spinout I could recover.

Oh well, i been planing today. But Wijk aan Zee was subsequently been a better choice for today. Had actually expected more of this speedsession.

Cant wait to try out my other C3 Slingshotsizes 21-25cm.

Sunny GOPRO Wavesession @ Wijk aan ZEE- 22th of may 2011

Decided to go to the beach instead of joining the USM @ Horst... a great decision that was!!

By arrival, nice waves, nice winddirection and even the watertemperature was nice. and more then enough wind!!

At Horst the wind was less.. a good decision not to go :)

My friend Martijn de Man joined me on the water. For him it was about 6 months ago that he's been windsurfing because of his nasty kneeinjurie. Today was like the good old times, that we were both sailing with the sado's.

Quite crowded at the parking of Wijk.

Once i was standing on top of the dunes..More wind then id expected.

Decided to rig up a 4.5m2 sado with the SOS rocketfish 82L and MUfin Xwave22cm. Martijn de Man went out with his Fanatic twinzer 92L and 4.7m2 sado. A bigger board and bigger sail for him. During the day, i had mixed feelings about my choice of smaller sailsize. I did plane more then enough and had nice jumps and rides.. but so many people were sailing 4.7 or bigger. While im more heavy then average wavesailor. i wasnt full power at all, which i like most. At times lacking to much power. But once finally arrived there at the shorebreak, its not crossing my minds go walk hundred miles back towards the car to switch my 4.5 sail into a 5.0m2. Surprisingly enough i did had a whole lot of fun sailing today. Only a 5.0m2 would of been better for me.

The walk is more exhausting then being 5,5 hours on the water ;o)

I been sailing from about 2:30pm until 8:00pm. I was so wasted at the end.. With a final treat at the end, walking a marathon trough the dunes again. Mann i was so thirsty after drinking 5.5hours salt water. :-/

Another sunny windless day @ the beach horst

For my little 2year old daughter it was the first time in her life, 'windsurfing'.

For my wife it was the first time of this year being on a surfboard and she did well. Need a little practise still ;o)

Later on we all three were on the same board windsurfing up and down the lake on the Fanatic Viper, rounding the yellow buoy.

A beautifull day indeed..

Spin off- Fishing trip with family @ France part2 !!!

Finally i had some time to upload a bunch of pictures from our yearly fishingtrip - MAY 2011 - France.

This year we went to the ABBEYLAKES, about an 450km drive from where i live.
We left about 4:00AM and arrived about 8:45AM.

We had loads to unpack and make a lot of rigs. 6 rods werer going to be used for catfish.

What a mess in those boxes.. Gladly we didnt forget those tiny details.

With a depth/fishfinder we checked the circumstances below. Row Row the boat. Searching for potential hotspots.

Looks beautifull... Just me and my family.

Around dinnertime someone from the Abbey-complex was delivering food. How great is that.

Lets see how the bottom of the lake looks like at our hotspots... GOPRO DOWNUNDER !! That was fun.

They are sooo slippery, difficult to hold on.

Grandpa, Pa and sun. Entire generation holding onto a catfish 1.75mtr.

About 35kilo.. like half the weight of my personal record catfish. That one i caught in Italy-Po about 70kilo. But still great sport and exciting to see my son holding onto such bigones.

This is how you catch the bigger catfish. A Big rock, heavy rope to the Buoy. a little coloured ball with a clip. The breakline you attach to your 'dobber' / the floater and attach it to the clip. When i Catfish grabs the livebait it should hook itself by breaking the lines.

Using live baits.. an eel, which was almost just as long as the predator that took it. It didnt go trough the breaklines. In the early evening when i checked all of the 6 live baits.. i noticed there was something going on underneeth when i pulled up the eel. A fun drill followed by hand. A nice Pike 80cm.

My dad didnt knew onto which rod the catfish was hanging on. The catfish swim trough the bouays and trough other lines. It was one big mess. Finally my dad end up holding one rod in his hand from the side, and i went into the boat holding on the other rod... Tried to solve out the knots and get rid of the buoy where it got stuck on.. After a moment we thought the catfish was gone.. but al of a sudden, i noticed it was on my rod, which i had in that little boat. This catfish pulled me everywhere he went, and was dragging me with him. When i reached shore, my dad had the honor to get it out of the water.

It was a succesfull fishingtrip. We all caught our little and bigger fishes. For now, on to the next year.

15-5-2011 cruising @ Horst with the 7.9m2

Sunday late midday, i went to my cruising and speedingspot Strand Horst.

Hoping to give it a go, with my newest toy, the AC-1 2k11 7.9m2.

But once I arrived, the wind looked a bit too strong for the 7.9m2, so i rigged the 7.2m2 instead, with a C3 34cm Venom underneeth my FF102. A few laps later, ofcourse the wind dropped.
Hmms Okay, i wanted to try out my biggest sail anyway, and rigged the 7.9m2. I'm getting used rigging those sails now. Its goes quicker each time. I switched the fins aswell. A C3 Sting 38cm should do the job.

Settings for today: 7.9M2: Recommended mast P7-460 C100, streamlined extension set on +36cm and a boomlength 207,5 cm.

(A shorter boomlenght 205cm would give even more pull, but im not sure my boom is wide enough.As in this setting the sail was going over the sides of the boom) I will try that setting next time anyway. For now i was just cruising around the lake...enjoying my big sail and my new wetsuit 'O'neill Psychofreak'. I took my GoPro cam with me and had some nice long laps on film.

The conditions today: waterdepth -14cm NAP / 10-21knots / WNW direction

I havent been speeding today, only cruising the lake with speeds around 50km/h. I surfed a little distance of 45 kilometer before i called it a day.
One of these (summer)days, i'm planning to do a bit of long-distance. Making it myself not to difficult, so ill try about 200+ km at first and work on from there. Im not sure if a 102L is the right board to do it with 7.2/7.9m2 sails as im barely floating on it. Perhaps i'll loose in the meantime a bit of weight and it'll be perfect ;o)

Spinoff - Off to France - Family Fishtrip! 03 till 08th May 2011

Almost every year me and my dad go out for a little fishtrip. That on several locations within Europe and try to catch some big catfish. This time my son is going with us for the first time in his life. He find it very exciting as he's 8years old and never catched any catfish before, or haven't been fishing during the nighttime from a tent. I'ts going to be a trip of 5 days, as his schoolholiday ends next sunday. A trip with a little bit of 'luxury' at the fishingspot. Over there the host bring food to where your tent is placed, you can have crossaints and baquettes in the morning, a clubhouse nearby with a shower/toilets/store and free wifi. (1kilometer away from the tent)
The weatherforecast at the location looks warm and sunny.

Got all my windsurfgear taken out of the car now from my last trip, and started packing again for our fishtrip.

Fully packed and ready to go.
Time to relax, time to catch some catfish!

First time with the P7 AC-1 2k11 6.3m2 that on my falcon 102 (my biggest board.)

I arrived a bit late, around 6.30pm on the water... Did a few runs before darkness came in. I had some doubts to rig my 7.2m2 again and then be fullpower.. but I wanted to try out my new 6.3m2 aswell. 6.3 it is. A bit low end for a change. Once again i had rotationproblems with the cambers in this AC1-2k11. Probably have to sand down my bottum batten aswell, as i did on the 7.2m2, which worked out okay afterwards. Besides the rotation error, this sail has an enormous drive. Didnt thought this combination would be so fast today.

My fastest runs were in the late evening, when i switched my c3 venom 32 to a smaller venom 30cm. with the 32cm i couldnt get it over 66kmh.

Just wanting to see what a smaller fin would do under this board.In combination with the Venom 32cm my streamlined extension was set on +8cm, with 1cm left below the pulley with boomlength 1.875m. Later on when i changed fins to 30cm,

i pulled it to the max,

with a boomlength 1.90m.

Surprisingly enough the wind became less and less, but speeds were improving. Im glad having a PR with my biggest board.

A max gps 67,10kmh which felt really easy. Perhaps some day ill hit the 70kmh with this board.

Around 6.30pm the conditions were like 16-26knots dropping down to 14-21knots - North East winddirection. Most people were allready gone when i came on as you can see here

Queensday 30 april'11 The Other Side - Waddenzee Texel

Today its Queensday.. We went to Den Burg, the 'big' city over here. Bought some kiddy goodies at the market and enjoyed the great weather.

The impossible has actually happened!!! - My wife bought herself her very first Wetsuit! - That in 'Roxy style' :-)

that ll be tested soon @ strand Horst on those summerly days.

Later on the day, we went to 'The Other Side' of the island and had my piece of fun out there between the sheeps. lol.
Its really a sheep island, sheep here, sheep there, sheeps everywhere.

The wind was totally in a EAST direction, about 6-7 beaufort. Hard enough to rig my 5.0m2 and SOS Rocketfish 82L.

Local Bart Goemans was just about to leave. Luckly it got on time, as it was still hightide. One other holidaytripper came by aswell, so we had our bits of fun together on the water.

My family was on the lookout, as my babygirl was asleep in the car.

My son was searching for shells and took them all home (and placed in my garden now)

Full power with the 5.0, I did quite a few tabletops some were quite high and tweaked. So much fun in these choppy conditions.

Cruising around the island is what we've done a lot. Visiting all them little villages once or twice :)Here we are @Ecomare

I went kiting quite a lot with my little boy. One of them days the line snatched several times because the wind was to strong.

But there was also a bit time left to be on the water :)
My wife dropped me off at spot pole9, and came back several hours later.

I surfed there with Local Bart Goemans and one other guy.
The wind was good for my 6.6m2 and Malibu Wavewarrior.

Nothing radical. but nicely getting tanned as the weather was great.

We ended up having a nice dinner at restaurant Pole9 - Texel.

The coming days the winddirection is in a East Direction. Probably I'm going to surf one of these days on the other side of the island where are no waves at all, perhaps there will be some steep chop to jump on.. We will find out.

Familytime

As we are on the island allready for a few days, it was time for me to get some quality time on the water. Yes!

I decided to go towards Paal 28, a bit on top of the island. A few kilometres below to the lightpole.

The conditions were like 5-6 beaufort, with a Northeast direction which was side to sideoffshore over there.

As noonelse was on the water, i took my iphone with me, just in case if something would happen out there.

At first i went out on my SOS Rocketfish 82 combined with 5.0m2. I just love this combination. I't been a while that ive been sailing with sideoff condtions.

I had some really nice waves out there. Nothing big but good enough to hit some lips. The wind became less and quickly I went over to my 5.4m2 and good old Malibu WaveWarrior.

I had my GoPro HD with me on the water today, and have to edit some film still. Asap... but then again. I got lots of film left to edit, from the wavedays in february and from march 2011. And a speedsession and and... Nevermind, probably done by next winter. Just be patient :)

We finished the day having a few drinks at the pole28 restaurant. It was a pleasant day to be on the water.

Tommorow is looking good aswell!

Island hopping.. Texel 25th april till 1th of May 2011- Wavesailing?

Coming week im going with my family to the Island of Texel... strange enough, I've never been there before in my life.
The forecasts looks good, although a bit crossofshore it seems.. But hey! I'ts an small island. Hopefully i get to do a bit of wavesailing.

My intention was to take just one board with me, but I just made a last minute decision to bring two ;o) My good (13yr) old Malibu WaveWarrior +-93L and My SOS RocketFish 82L combined with three sails P7 Sado 6.6 - 5.4 and 5.0m2. Hopefully it all fits inside the car including my wife and 2 kiddies.Im excited to go, stay tuned!

I'm so glad the wintermonths are finally over. After work, i went straight off to Horst for an eveningsession. Rigged my Point-7 7.2m2 ac-1 2k11 for the third time now, which went surprisingly quick this time. I've rememberd the 'how to rig a p7 ac1 2k11' vimeo movie! ;o) My streamlined extension was set on 30cm, and had like 0.7mm left. A little bit more downhaul then last time. Boomsettings i cant remember.

I took the advice from Point-7 the other day, to sand down the last 20cm of the lowest bottum batten, from 6mm to 4mm. So the camber rotation would be bits better.
I do have to admit. The sail does rotate finally, but not good yet. Im wondering if other battens needs to be sanded the same way... i'll come back to that.

Today I only took one board FF102 and one sail 7.2m2 in my car. Didnt leave me much choice.

I heard that loads of speedies were busy out there today with smaller gear. But the wind seemed to drop a lot. Compared to the first time i tried the same combo, i placed a bigger fin underneeth, a 36cm c3 venom instead of a 34cm. Had more lift and even more speed it seemed. Had non spinouts today.

The windconditions: Northwest,3-4-5 beaufort. -15cm NAP.

Waterlevel has raised to a normal level, so we can use longer fins again without any problems.
The northwest directions makes the spot even more fun as really long laps are possible. Laps can be about 3 to 4km. To bad it was over so soon.

I didnt do any speedsurfing today, just cruising up and down the lake. But noticed a max speed from almost 60kmh on the gps.

The wind kept on dropping and I called it a day. In the dark Richard, Willem Jan and I went off to the big yellow M, grabbing a bite.

Another nice sunny day to go out surfing with my son.

But first we went to the new surfshop, and bought him new surfshoes... No more cold feet now ;o) Couldnt recist to buy another pair of mini surfshoes for my 2yrs old daughter :)

Its nice to have more TOW (time on water)coming season with these gigantic rooky surfboards.

At a moment he and I were surfing to the other end of the lake, that together standing on the same board which was fun. I didnt put a wetsuit on, because i wasnt intending to fall of. But one unlucky moment.. yikes :P

The first day of the year it was +20 Celsius degrees! Finally !!

I went with my son to strand horst for a bit of playtime on the water.

My son enjoying the sun.

He was on his new rooky set. A Fanatic Viper, starboard Ido and a bigger 2.5m2 sail.

The wind was quite a bit heavy at times for him beside that the watertemperature was cold stil..duhh. ;o) but im proud of him doing his laps.

We did some laps together, cruising the lakes while he was sitting behind.
Fun, hopefully more of these 'warm' family surfdays.

31th march '11 - Surfing @ horst

At the end of the day, i asked my mother in law if i could drop my kids for a few hours. She agreed ;o) packed my car with 2 kids, 1 board, 1 sail and hoping it would be the right choice. As i couldnt take more with me.

Around 5.30pm i was finally on the water with my brandnew 7.2m2 AC1 2K11. :-) I do have to admit i have troubles with the cam rotation. Hopefully its a tuning error ony my behave that can be solved anytime soon. I do have the recommended p7 sdm 430 c100 inside. I had the streamlined extension set on 30cm.(recommended setting)
I did had a bit space left, so the downhaul was not as much as yesterday when i rigged it at home. I heard that these sails doesnt need that much downhaul as most racesails do have.

My main problem was that the cambers were simply not rotating at all. I had one moment in the deeper part of the water, while swimming during a waterstart, this issue gave me seriously a problem because i couldnt switch the cams to the other side while i was drifting away. I had to help/push the cams manually by hand, that each lap. In deeper water that was almost not possible to do so.
I was allready on the water when i found out this problem. My tool to untighten the batten tension was left elsewhere.

Had several laps before darkness came in. Got a max speed out of 59kmh with an average 5x10 around 55kmh. No serious speeds yet. The fin underneeth was a C3 Venom 34cm. The waterdepth for today was -38cm NAP. Which is to shallow, although for me. I didnt do any serious speedruns where i normally would do, because the fin was hitting the ground to quickly. I dont want to end up with damaged fins or end up in hospital cause having a unnecessary crash. I heard, that normally the waterdepth will be switched to summerlevel around mid april.
Summerlevel is 0 to -5cm NAP. Which is shallow/deep enough for speedsurfing, and cruising around with bigger boards and fins. Back in february (4th) when i was speedsurfing out there, the waterdepth was - 53cm NAP!!! Means much more walking then actually windsurfing.;o)

Now the battentension is set less on the crossbatten, and hopefully the second time it'll be better. I must say the AC1 2k11 delivers a enormous pull and drive. Unbelievable. what a positive change compared to my former AC-1 LTDII's.

When my babygirl was laying in her bed this afternoon, I did some rigging in my livingroom.
First i pulled out 6.3m2 out of the sack.

It took a quite a while to put the cams on.. then i realised..Oyeah!! there was a riggingguide movie for these sails on vimeo ;o)

Watched it and gave it a another try.

Rigged thet 6.3m2 with the settings +8cm and +10cm on the streamlined extension with the SDM c100 430 recommended mast.

Later on rigged the 7.2m2 aswell for the first time.. (D.Boisen from P7 said after seeing these pictures there was a bit much tension on the cross battens, and probably a bit to much down and outhaul)

Extension was set on 30cm. maximally pulled. (recommended 30-32cm)

Looks like its having a bit much downhaul indeed(with the recommended setting)
Boom was set on 1.95cm (recommended 192cm +-3cm)

First part shipment AC1-2K11's arrived!

Finally the first shipment arrived. 6,3m2 - 7,2m2 AC1 2K11 and C100 430SDM.

somewhere in april will arrive the second part of the shipment. (The point-7 AC1 2K11 7.9m2.)
Tommorow ill do some rigging and make some pictures from them.

Perhaps im able to use the 7.2m2 allready next thursday with my Fanatic Falcon 102. if i can find a babysitter ;o)

It's been a long day.. finally home after an hour drive, and another hour trafficjam. But hey.. it was worth it.
Easy conditions. About 6-7 beaufort in a southwest direction. from time to time the sun came by. Great. The weathertemperature was stil about 4 degrees..

tuning..bit more low end cause i was lacking power at times. a 5.0m2 would of been a better option for me i think. But didnt feel like changing and the walk back to the parking.

Got spotted by Torben, trough the webcam from the aloha beachclub.

took my gopro hd cam with me today.

As i been speedsurfing yesterday. I had in mind for todayto go towards Wijk aan zee. First time at sea this year after a 3 month winterbreak. It was windy enough for sure! Finally!
Here below you can see the windstats of 5 february 2011 / 18-24ms 9 beaufort.

Rigged my kiddysail for this occasion ehhh meaning my stormchaserig: P7 sado 3.3m2 with a rdm340. Tuned low-end, even rigged my sado 4.0m2 aswell. That if 3.3m2 wouldnt work out. (saves me the long walk back to the parking). Used my SOS RocketFish 68L and tried underneeth a brandnew fin: Maui Ultra Fin Xwave 21cm.

The wind was sideonshore 228degrees. The watertemperature still frigging cold.

I didnt like the cold water at all.. was bits lacking power with 3.3m2, but enough do a few high jumps and plane trough the breaks. At the end of the day i took my 4.0 m2 which was more stabile. After a few laps i didnt had enough strength anymore in my arms/hands to hold on the boom. With 9 beaufort and low watertemperatures not that fun. Time to stop i guess. The MUfin xwave21 i tried worked out great. It has less cm2 then my orginal sos wave21cm but still gave me enough lift. I had not one spinout and it gave me more speed. Next time ill do a bit more waveriding and see how thats like with the MU Fin Xwave21cm.

A surprise for me was, that my sister Daisy came around to see me windsurfing. She took the pic see below with her cellphone.

Never thought my sis would of come around to the beach with these cold stormy winterconditions.

During the day i had a little crash and my mastbase turned loose from my streamlined extension, (i thought that wasnt possible with streamlined extensions. guess not) Far out in sea. the cold water yikes. That was ... NOT Fun.. which is an understatement. Luckily i got it back together out there (after been washed, and holding on to the board and sail) and quickly went to the beach.. as i felt frozen.

An other guy out there.. lost his gear temporarely at sea.. once finally arrived to shore, he started puking blood. He was send to the hospital. PeterVg, helped the guys equipment bringing back to his car again, (a longggg walk) and my sister drove his car to the hospital. Later on the evening he was able to go home again.

4-2-11 First SPEED session of the year

Took a few hours off from work and went to Strand Horst for a bit of speeding.. Man o man.. it sucked lol Besides the cold, i had absolutely no energy at all and realised the last three months i should of went to the gym instead of trowing snowballs at my kiddies ;o) I'm always very carefull with my gear.. dont like unnessary damage.. While rigging my sail.. my brandnew Al360 E3 boom that i bought the other week at DAS BOOT, a huge gust made it fly away from the grass and hitted the street... there goes away the brandnewgrip. @#$%%% :-/

I rigged my 6.0m2 max loose leech, that with my FF speed. As it was windy enough.. a smaller sail would of been better. But hey... dont have one smaller.

in a certain specific mood i walked towards the water.

the waterdepth was abnormal low. you had to walk so faraway from the beach, to have enough water to step on your board.. did had some runs. but i was lacking energy to much and the waterdepth anoyed me a lot. Walked more today then actually surfing. Im not going there again, untill waterlevel rises to a normal level.
Tried for the first my GoproHD camera on my speedshizzle... anytime soon ill try to edit some... But then again.. havent even finished the surfmovie part2 from 4-11-2011 :)

Today its been about 17m2 upto 24ms /direction all day 222degrees @ Wijk aan zee..see picture below..
